The monitor arrived today, not a minute too soon as the old one stopped working altogether yesterday. The specification of the PC is:ДЄMD Athlon II X2 250 cpu on ASUS M3N78-EM motherboard with 4 Gb of RAM If anyone can help me IвЂ™d be very grateful, otherwise I guess IвЂ™ll have to buy another monitor and hope that that cures the problem.

The driver reported on both PCвЂ™s is a Generic PnPMonitor dated version no.16385. The display stayed on after turning the screen off and on again 4 or 5 times.Д«ecause the problem follows the monitor IвЂ™m inclined to believe that the fault lies with the monitor, but IвЂ™m not sure.

I swopped the Dell E207WFP monitor from my PC with my wifeвЂ™s PC and it behaved perfectly all day.The Iiyama had the same problem, displaying for several hours before losing the display and only coming on again for a second or two after switching off and on. Looking on the web I came across a forum with an old post of a similar probloem, but the reecommended action was to replace capacitors on the screen PCB вЂ“ not somethimng IвЂ™d contemplate doing. I checked the NVIDIA site and downloaed and installed the updates for the graphics and network cards, but this hasnвЂ™t resolved the problem either.

However, when I downloaded the zipped file and tried to install an update, from the instructions the drivers were only up to XP. On the site it said that these were for Windows 95/98/Me2000.Vista and 7. Iiyama seem to have one file for the 431S containing all their drivers, for all types of monitor and TV.

I went to the Iiyama site to check for 64 bit or updated drivers for the monitor. I thought the installation of W7 might be causing the display problem, although only appearing after several weeks. In January this year I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Both the old and the new PC were running Windows XP Pro SP3. It worked perfectly well before, although on an older PC which had to be replaced late last year. The screen is an Iiyama Prolite H431S, about 5 1/2 years old. However sometimes, but not always, the screen displays and then stays on again and the PC can be used normally for a while, but this is not consistent вЂ“ IвЂ™ve just tried to use the PC after powering it up and have pressed the power button off and over a dozen times and the display keeps going blank after s few seconds.The screenвЂ™s power light stays blue, indicating that the screen is active, itвЂ™s amber otherwise and the screen displays that no signal is being received. The screen will display for a second or two before going black again.Switching the screen off and on again produces the same results, a display for a second or two before going blank again. This can happen when the PC is switched on in the morning, or later in the day whilst being used, and once or twice on being woken up from hibernation mode. IвЂ™m having problems with the display on my wifeвЂ™s PC, where the display will stop and the screen is blank.
